servant leadership is a powerful tool for building organizational capital in organizations. Leadership skills and traits develop through practice and experience. It is important for each leader to understand the purpose and design of the organization he or she leads and assess the strengths and weaknesses of the organization in relation to that purpose. Leaders must also be willing to put in the time, effort and resources to make sure the organization is built on firm and beneficial foundations.

One of the most important servant leadership qualities is being able to make time. No matter what the size of an organization it is essential to make time for those whom you are responsible for serving. No matter what you are doing, whether it is driving the car or serving as a secretary to a secretary, you must make time to be there for those who need your help. Being available twenty-four hours a day is not enough to build a successful organization. You must be available seven days a week and throughout the week.
The fourth servant leadership qualities that are important in effective leadership is being able to identify with the members of the organization and make them feel part of the organization. A strong bond is essential to building organizational capital and effective leaders must have the ability to build strong relationships with all of their leaders and their followers. You cannot effectively lead a team if you do not understand what motivates the individual members of the team as a whole. When leaders are not able to identify with their followers and the desires and needs of their followers they often do not hear the voice of the people and they are missing out on opportunities to gain the support, guidance and knowledge of those individuals. These leaders must learn to listen carefully to their followers and provide them with meaningful answers to their questions and their problems.
